San Francisco has the oldest and strongest local Sunshine Ordinance in the nation. But it has loopholes: it’s too easy for people in City Hall to skate on violations and it’s too easy for city officials to sabotage the Sunshine Ordinance and the work of the city’s open-government watchdog commission, the Sunshine Ordinance Task Force.
San Franciscans for Sunshine has drafted an initiative to strengthen the city’s open-meeting and public-records law, the Sunshine Ordinance. San Franciscans for Sunshine is working diligently to place those amendments onto the local ballot.
